WARNING: Today’s tip is another one that may make your eyes water! :)

Peel and quarter. Place one layer deep in a small pan and freeze. Quickly pack in bags or containers while frozen. Use as needed, chopping onions while frozen, with a sharp knife.

I LOVE this tip! I have purchased too many bags of frozen diced onions just for convenience.

Household Tip of the Day 9/16

Do you get annoyed when you grab your bag of brown sugar and it is all hard?  I found a tip on how to keep it fresh!

Wrap brown sugar in plastic bag and store in refrigerator in a coffee can with a snap-on lid.

What a great tip!  Now I just need to have my mom save a coffee can for me.. cuz I am simply not old enough to drink coffee yet.  LOL!! Just kidding.. but that is what I always tell people when they are shocked by the fact that I do not drink it.

I always hate buying vegetables and within a day or 2, they are starting to get bad already!  Well I found a tip on the handy dandy internet that I am hoping helps solve this issue for Lettuce and celery…

Store in refrigerator in paper bags instead of plastic. Leave the outside leaves and stalks on until ready to use.

Household Tip of the Day 9/13

Monday, September 13th, 2010

Wow.. I learned something new already this morning!  I am one of those people who does not like to keep my egg carton.  I like to use my egg tray in the fridge instead.  But how do I know when the eggs are stale or not? Hmm.. this has been my dilemma for a while now.   So I have resorted to keeping the darn carton so I know the date!  Well I found a handy tip on the wonderful world wide web that will make things a little easier ..

Want to know if your eggs are fresh or stale?  Well according to the internet…

To find out if an egg is fresh, immerse it in a pan of cool salted water. If it rises to the surface, it is stale, but if it sinks, it is fresh.

Well who knew?? And if you did.. why did you wait so long to tell me? LOL!

Have a great week everyone.
